Library
Our Library is now known as a Library Media Center to encourage students to use not only traditional books to do research and read for pleasure, but also to use Chromebooks and online resources to supplement lessons taught by their teachers and use audio books to listen for pleasure. (See Dr. Wright's Technology Plan 2016). Our online catalog, Destiny Quest, is available to students even from home to search for their next book. There also are e-books available. Should you have a kindle, students will be able to listen to these books.
Library Policies:
1. The Library is open for students at 7:45 until 3:15, (except when librarian has bus duty).
2. Students may check out two books at a time for two weeks, may renew if needed, or get another book when finished.
3. Fines of 5 cents per day are charged for late books.
4. The library takes donations of NEW books.
5. We encourage parent and grandparent volunteers to help with shelving.
6. Discipline in the library is based on Baseball - 3 strikes. First is a warning; second is separation from peers; and third is writing sentences or returning to help in the library during free time. Severe clause is the BENCH for Mr. Cardin or Mrs. Herd to speak with the student.
In Honor Of and In Memory Of
Our library has received many donations in both categories: "in honor of" and "in memory of." It's a wonderful way to honor your child on his/her birthday, your child's teacher, a community leader or anyone you'd like to recognize in a special and lasting way. You would make a donation to our school in whatever amount you desire, and we would choose an appropriate book to purchase, something that fills a need in our collection. Many times the donor has a specific book title or subject area to recommend for purchase. Once the book is purchased, a special bookplate containing donor and other information will be placed in the front of each book, and each one will be a lasting tribute.
If you would like to have a book placed in our library "in honor of" or "in memory of" someone special, please get in touch with our library.
